Old Age

Old age comes with forgetfulness, clumsiness, uselessness, brainless, strenghless and breathless.

I am only 53 yrs old and I already encounter all those mentioned above. I used to be very systematic and energetic in my house work when my kids were young. We were staying in a single storey house when I only had my two girls, before my son came.
First thing I do when i get up is to take whatever I want to cook out from the fridge, then rinse the clothings already prewashed the night before. And next, sweep the floor, then hang up the clothings and after sending them off to school, I will mop the floor or manage to change all the furnitures from the hall to the second hall or from the first room to the back room when I am bored with the settings. Then I will put the soup to boil and season pork/chicken or fish and cut the vegetables and place them back into the fridge. Everyday, I wud prepare different menu for lunch for my kids. There were chicken chop, scramble egg on toast, fried rice, soup noodles, fish and chips, fried wanton with ikan bilis soup and sometimes just milo with cornflakes. I am done by noon. Then start to prepare dinner at 5.30pm.

Where have all those energy gone?????? I hate myself for being so useless. Not that I wanted to be forgetful or something like that but it really hurts when you are shouted at or screamed at the slightest mistake you make.

So far, I have only seen one man who is very filial and patience with his parents. His name is David. His mom is sickly and he is the only one to take care of her in spite of having 3 other siblings. She is one difficult lady. In one day, she can demand to be send to the doc 5 times. Even in the wee mornings. The poor chap will do it. And he will conspire with the doc to say that all is ok. He will feed her with so much love while she, having lost her sense of taste will throw tantrums. This is a daily affair. He took care of her for years before she is called home. His dad is still around at he age of 80+. He is staying in another town and the cute part is the old man will not eat until he hears the son's voice. So he makes it a point to call his dad daily no matter how busy he is.

I don't wish to be like his mom (sickly and dependant) BUT I DO WISH TO HAVE CHILDREN LIKE HIM

Like everyone else, wish I can turn back the clock and do justice to myself. Not that something bad has happened but then I just wish to be wiser.

Hello Penny, a man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest.

Penny, couldn't help smiling read of your forgetfullness etc...I too am in the same boat...my wife too.
My wife is 62, still stunningly beautiful, has the same figure as that night I proposed to her at the rear of E&O Penang...can still wear that blue cheong sum she wore that night and the sarong kebaya on our first date...she kept and brought them here...
Anyway, both she and me...we keep a lot of those yellow sticky memo pads all over the house...bedroom, kitchen, living room....bathroom too...and yes...age brings memory forgetfulness.

So the moment we think, remember something...there's pens, at least three besides each memo pad...we write down.

Right now on my coffee cabinet where I cannot miss seeing it are 2 memos stuck there, 1/ dentist appointment on 29th July. 2/ Doctor's annual check-up on August 11th.

Next to my new Apple computer again...notebooks, memo pads.
We cannot trust our minds now...ha ha.
No matter how fit we are, brain cells not fit, ha ha.

Penny...my wife and I take a tablet of Bee Pollen one a day...past 35 years. It slows down aging and helps keeps wrinkles away. My wife and I don't take any other pills or vitamins etc...this Bee Pollen alone kow tim...everything in one tablet.
Hollywood actors, a lot are taking this too.
Go check it out on the Net...you'll be surprised at its potency.

I am 65, tip the scales at 196 pounds, height 6'1" and still, ahemm, shapely,*wink*, and strong..stronger than my friends of 50.
(my pic is at the posting, "how movies influence my life, d/d 6/15/08) taken last month...somewhere in the centre holding a guitar....I used my Apple Imac thermal imaging as I still want to maintain being incognito.

Thank you for your kind thoughts re my loss of a friend, Shera. I shall miss her cheerful, sometimes cheeky comments greatly.
You have a nice day, Lee.

Hi Penny...we never take any other 'obats' be whatever they are...maybe sometimes a Calcium tablet...but it is only the Bee pollen we don't miss....
We eat vegetables like rabbits, and avoid red meat...only been to MacDonalds 3 times in 21 years, once to eat, twice have coffee.
We eat more tau fu, lots of Chinese green tea...I take 6 cups a day, my wife three glasses.

And yes, I forgot to mention...my wife and I never miss weekend afternoon naps...one hour or so...naps help slow down wrinkles.

Want to lose weight fast? Take up ballroom dancing.
You sure drop a few pounds fast, ha ha.
Drop in tomorrow, Lee.

Tq so much for sharing your healthy diet. I have just started to acquire the taste of green tea. Did not quite like it at first but getting into it slowly but surely.

I must agree to the afternoon nap thingy. My friend who was a teacher will not miss that for ANYTHING. Now I know why.

And about losing weight......ahhhh!!!!! interesting. My friend just emailed me the no. of calories one loose while ML. Email came in too late for me ....... hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

Talking about ballroom dancing, well we did, not ballroom dancing but some social ones. But my partner does not seem to follow and neither can he lead me. Most of the time I lead him. But I am not that good at it myself. To him is, as long as he can come back to position it is all right whether he takes four or three steps. I don't feel the comfort in dancing with him. So I gave up. Aiya, don't want to quarrel becos of dancing la.

Manage to see the real u. Tall, dark and handsome. Now more girls would be 'lum sei' if they ever come visitng my blog. Show la, yr other half's photo. Pleeeeeeze!!!!!???????

Tks again MP (if I may call u by that initial) the feeling is great having someone who understands and stand by yr side. Yr dad is such a lucky guy to live up to 90 and have such a filial child by his side. Well, since young, I have always prayed for that, no need to have big hse or car but to have my children come back and see me when I grow old is all I ask for. Let's see if God hears my prayers, hehehe!!!

Also, now I know why UL keeps going on and on and on and doing better and better each time. It really feels fantastic to have someone read and respond to what one have sit for some time thinking and writing. Agree, UL??????

Tq so much again for the ciumssssssss. Much needed and appreciated. Hugs!! C u again soon.

i think a person should always think of what their parents went through for them. no matter what, there are difficult moments that they have gone through to bring the kids up. lots of sacrifices. so i cannot understand how an adults can enjoy their lives and forget their old parents.
so, as we get older now, we need to take care of our health as much as we can, and be as happy as we can. because no one will give us that happiness sometimes. we must look after ourselves. but that is easily said only. because i know you will always care for your kids and me too, i will always care for my family around me and friends too. the exchange scale is not tipping balanced sometimes. but we are just too soft, ya? *ciums wet wet again*

i am getting so longwinded in your blog. i am seldom so longwinded. maybe you touch a raw chord. i love old folks. all their wrinkles are symbols of love and wisdom.
stay well penny honey. you are doing good. and yes you can call me MP. reserved only for you! *hugs*

Arhaaa ha ha.
Penny, you're cute.
And Mistipurple, you are simply adorable!
Thank you for the warm, walk on ayer compliments, ha ha....but remember, I am now a retired Alligator, ha ha....otherwise you'll be receiving bouquets from me, *winks*.

Re my 'better half'? Yes, she at 62 is still stunning...and with the same figure i met her decades ago. She never misses her weekend naps, drinks water, Chinese green tea like come out from desert...and eats vegetables like a rabbit, avoids red meat...me too.

Both of us have challenged each other who grows old first, ha ha! As she is still ahemm, very shapely, I too have to maintain my ahemm, cough, cough figure, ha ha as she said, "otherwise cannot match her", when we go out, ha ha.

Penny, re dancing, I would love to have a couple of waltzes and Latin Tangos with you...at the E&O of course....you in a cheong sum or a sarong? *wink*.
Have a great week, Penny, Lee.
ps and thanks for the compliments again.
